are the flowering bulbs in Spring! Snowdrops so aptly named push up right thru the snow, last a long time, and are as varied as the sunny yellow daffodils, which planted in swaths, will light you up! Then the crocuses continue the delight by adding purples and lavenders. Tiny scilla will magically turn a green lawn into a sea of blue and neatly disappear too - grape hyacinths with that delicious scent - come in a myriad of shades in purples, light blues & white ... plant them all to your hearts delight! Then there are the tulips which from my experience are worth every penny, so much more vibrant, strong, and fragrant then any store bought and the variety, parrot, French...
