Most irrigation systems act like a car wash. Imagine for a moment you're the plant and you're thirsty, but you're just getting shot in the arm with a spray of water – never quenching your thirst!
Drip irrigation gets the water directly to the roots without the waste of random
spraying which is ineffective and promotes disease. And now its being used with sod (check out This Old House). Watering deeply, and less frequently, simulating a rain, will keep your trees and plants healthy and happy.
